Social activity

Deftrans company is not only characterised by high-quality bathroom and kitchen furniture production. Over the last couple of years, we’ve created two unique facilities: Astrid Lindgren Charter Primary School, and Creative Multifunctional Facility KOM.

Astrid Lindgren Charter Primary School is located in Milicz, in a building of a former Christmas ball factory, which has been rebuilt and readjusted to the school’s needs. The first school bell in KOM school rang in September 2014. The founding and managing body of the school is the KOM foundation.

In our school, creating and learning is a passion shared by both the teachers and students. We’re not afraid of asking questions and we’re eager to find answers. We perceive learning as an adventure, challenge and search for precious knowledge. Apart from maths, two foreign languages or computer graphics, we teach our pupils how to express their own opinion effectively, solve complex problems, enhance communication and group-work skills.

The teaching staff is characterised by high professional qualifications in the fields of pedagogy, psychology, art and education facility management. A friendly and safe school building – spacious, modern and well-equipped classrooms – enables the teachers to plan and conduct classes in a way that favours group integration – via working in project groups or via creative tasks.

KOM is located Milicz, in loft-style interiors of a former Christmas ball factory. Here, in the largest manufacture of glass Christmas decorations, Christmas balls were being formed and decorated by hand for over 50 years and sold to multiple countries all over the world. When the assembly halls of the factory were emptied, a perfect space for creative thinking and working emerged. Since that time, KOM has been focusing on implementing modern teaching methods and educational programs for schools and kindergartens, providing creative play for children, business meetings and a relaxation spot for tourists visiting Baryczy Valley.

The visitors will find the Christmas Ball Chamber particularly engaging – it’s a museum exhibition of over six thousand Christmas decoration patterns. Also, the Gallery of Scout Bolek – Icebreaker 2009, which includes the documentation, trophies, medals, photographs, and a specially adjusted sports equipment used by Bolesław Zajiczek, a distinguished sportsperson and community worker from Milicz.

Art and design enthusiasts will be delighted by an adaptation and decor of this industrial building originating from the 20th century. In 2013, KOM was placed in the top three in the finals of the prestigious Dofa’13 architecture festival in the Interior & Design category.
